The whiptail lizards, with their irridescent turquoise tails, back and feet, provided enless entertainment. There were hundreds of them and they weren't shy in the least. As you can see, they enjoyed cookies a lot!
Washington Slagbaai National Park is a 13,500 acre game preserve located in the northern part of the island. The park roads are not paved and provide a challenge for the driver. The 34 kilometer ride took more than 5 hours with lots of stops to view scenery and rest our bones from the bumpy ride.

Without a doubt, the best part of the park visit was the host of animals and birds we saw. Whiptail lizards, iguanas, goats, pink flamingos, parrots, trupials and more delighted throughout the trip.
Bonaire is the largest pink flamingo sanctuary in the Caribbean. There are more flamingos here than people!
